Media Visibility Index

Media Visibility Index

What is the Media Visibility Index

Media Visibility Index / MV / Media Visibility is an index that shows in one figure how noticeably your object is represented in a particular publication and in the media in general for a selected period of time. The index takes into account the object's role in the publication and the influence of the source (media type, audience coverage).

This is a new tool to evaluate the effectiveness of your PR and media relations:
  1. For daily monitoring on large data sets, publications with a high MV index are prioritized for review.
  2. The index values of all the documents included in the story are summed up and in this way you can discover the most noticeable in the media not only individual documents, but also the stories.
  3. Newsletters and allerts for mentions with a high MV index can be used to identify important mentions promptly.
  4. In media analytics the MV index may be the key in the evaluation of the quality of communications. An increase in the MV index in intersection with the tone of mentions indicates positive trends in communications, while a decreasing MV index will help to identify problems in communications.

How the Media Visibility Index is calculated

The media visibility index takes into account the following publication parameters:
  1. Role (automatically determined by the object monitored in the topic);
  2. Media type;
  3. Media size.
The minimum value of the Media Markup Index is 0 and the maximum is 100.

Please Note:
The Media Visibility Index value is only displayed when you are viewing a single topic. If role cannot be determined for a document in a topic, the Media Visibility Index is not displayed.

Export Media Visibility Index

The Media Visibility Index value for each publication is displayed in an export in .xlsx format.

The Media Visibility Index is displayed in the .xlsx report export - in numerical value and in graphical form in dynamics for the selected period.

Media Visibility Index of a story

The media visibility index is also calculated for a story in story mode using the formula:

MV of the story = MV(publication1) + MV(publication2) + MV(publication3) + ...+ MV(publicationN)

In story mode, the .xlsx export of stories displays the Media Visibility Index value for each publication as well as the total Media Visibility Index value for each story.

The stories can be sorted in descending order of the total Media Visibility Index of the stories. To do this, click on the checkbox of the parameter used for sorting now and select one of the three possible parameters for sorting stories: the number of documents, the coverage of the audience or the Media Visibility Index of the story. Stories are always sorted in descending order of the selected parameter (from the highest value to the lowest).
