How audience coverage is calculated in the Semantrum

Semantrum calculates Media view forecast (audience coverage) for publications. A separate calculation method is applied for each media type.

Audience coverage is the calculated forecast number of views of a publication (news/post/stories).

In the system, terms "reach" and "contact" are used as synonyms and refer to the number of views of a news/post rather than the number of unique people who have contacted the news.

The calculation of the forecasted number of contacts allows to obtain data on a large number of publications, to compare the influence of different sources, the dynamics over different time periods and the attitudes of different companies/people, etc.

Please note:
"Media view forecast" means that the data for contacts is calculated by certain methodologies and may not correspond to the actual number of views of the news or story.

In the system  audience coverage is displayed on the publication card. If there is no coverage and number of contacts display on the card, it means that there is no data about contacts for that publication, as there is no data about the total level of views of the source.

Please note:
The forecusted number of views is calculated for social media posts/reposts/extended reposts, but is NOT calculated for comments. More information about types of publications.

Calculating audience coverage for Internet media

SimilarWeb is used to collect data on the audience of a particular site. Basis of the calculation is the number of visits to the site for the last full month. Data on the total number of visits is updated in the month when SimilarWeb updates the information.
The forecusted number of contacts with a specific publication on the site is calculated by a coefficient calculated as the average value of the views of a particular publication on the site, and considering the size of the media (large or small) and the time of publication in relation to the day (lower attendance at night than during the day). Details about the size (weight) of the source.

Calculating audience coverage for social media

For Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and Telegram, data about the number of followers of a page is used to calculate the forecusted number of views per post, depending on the "size" of the page audience. Coverage is not calculated for comments.
