How to view visual content of posts by hashtags

How to view visual content of posts by hashtags

When and how to use image mode in Semantrum? Thanks to image tracking you can get the most out of your monitoring. This is especially true for social media monitoring. This is especially true for social media monitoring. Because traditional media monitoring is based mainly on texts and their analysis, while text is no longer the main type of content on social media. So, it's never a bad idea to check if users are spreading memes about you ;)

As an example, we set up Semantrum to track the hashtag #freetheleopards. The system started collecting information and pulled up all the previously available data from the previous days. Learn more about how to set up hashtag monitoring.

How can I view and select hashtags?

In the publications feed, you can see the hashtags that are present in the publications.

By clicking on a hashtag, you will filter your feed by that hashtag.

In the hashtag filter, you can see the hashtags defined in the posts you have filtered, as well as the number of mentions. Hashtags are sorted by the number of mentions, and the TOP 30 hashtags by number of mentions are displayed.

You can manage hashtag filters to select multiple hashtags at once, select combinations of hashtags in posts, and exclude posts that mention a specific hashtag.

We see that there are several desired hashtags. This is because users frequently change the spelling of hashtags. Select both hashtags in the Combine mode to get all posts with at least 1 of them. Learn more about how to manage filters.

Please note:

If you have set up hashtag monitoring with the help of your manager, check the hashtag filters to see if you can find other hashtags related to your topic. Most of the the time, as a hashtag becomes viral, users change its spelling and add their own hashtags.

In the filter by source type, select the social network you want to use or several. Click on the icons of the required source types one by one. Learn more about source types: display and filters.

Can I view the images that are included in posts or posts with a specific hashtag?

Once you have selected the desired hashtag and other filters, you can view the images directly in the post feed.
However, it can be difficult to see the image in this view. Besides, not every mention contains an image. To quickly and easily view only images in social media posts and mentions, switch to Images mode.

In this mode, you can switch from images to the text of documents, work with filters, and export documents as you usually do. On the top bar, you can see the number of posts by filter status, and the number of posts with images is displayed below. Learn more about viewing images in posts.

Done! The first meme has been found.

Move the cursor over the desired image - you'll see the post details and the beginning of the post. If you want to go to the original source in the social network, click on the name of the source highlighted in color. If you want to see full text and publication in the system, click on the image.

With quick image browsing, you can not only see how users are picking up the trend, but also find posts from influencers, experts, media personas, and much more.

You can also see how businesses are following the trend.

In addition, the visuals for the selected hashtag will help you understand how users feel about the topic. For example, under the hashtag #freetheleopards, we found not only memes about Olaf Scholz, Cheetah arts, and photos of people in printed clothes. We also saw this hashtag being illustrated with information about dead children and photos from the hotspots of the Donetsk region.

What else can you find out about the posts under a particular hashtag?

You can also get additional information about the posts you find by the selected hashtags. You can use any filters directly in Image mode or in the usual publications feed view, as well as view and download visual analytics, generate stories, export automatic reports and lists of publications, save a query with selected hashtags, and set up alerts when new posts with these hashtags appear.

For example, you can view the TOP sources of posts - those users who use the selected hashtag the most. To do this, open the filter by source.

In addition, you can see which people were mentioned the most in the posts. As expected, it is Olaf Scholz here.

In Charts mode, you can also view and download visual analytics for the tag or desired tag(s). You can limit period on the Trends graph to get a more detailed overview of the hashtag's distribution over the past few hours. Learn more about the Charts mode.

You can get data about the distribution of posts by hashtags in automatic report exports in .xlsx and .docx formats. To do this, select the desired tag in a particular topic and export an automatic report on the publications you have found.
Exports of the list of posts in .xlsx format include the hashtag that was posted in each post. Find out more about exports in Semantrum.

Please note:
  1. You can export all documents by filter state, not only documents with images, and you can export only data and texts of posts.
  2. Images are available only for viewing, but not for downloading.
