Filters are displayed in the filters panel if the filtered publications contain the required data.
The values in the filters are also displayed by those for which there are publications according to the selected parameters (topic, period, other filters). For example, if you do not see the country you are looking for in the source country filter, this means that your publications do not contain the sources of the country you are looking for. Try to increase the period that your publications are displayed or remove other filters.
Many filters only display TOP values. To find the filter value you are looking for, you can use the filter value search. To do this, enter the first 3 characters of the name of the desired value.
Quick filters by date
A period filter is available for users on the filter bar. It allows users to select any period - day, month, year as well as hours and minutes, and to select a period via a quick selection of settings.
A period filter is available for users in the filter bar. It allows users to select any period - day, month, year as well as hours and minutes, selecting the period via a quick selection of settings.
To select standard periods such as last hour, last day, and last week we recommend using the quick date range selection. This allows you to select the last 10, 30, 60 minutes, 12, 24 hours, last 7, 30 days from today.
Filter by publication content
The Publication content filter contains several filters: by the availability of videos, images, automatically transcribed text (for TV and YouTube), hashtags (for social networks), hyperlinks and tagged pages (for some social networks). You should use the hashtag and page tag filter to filter out all posts with any hashtag or page tag, and if you need to find posts with specific hashtags or page tags on social networks, you can use separate hashtag and page tag filters.
Possibilities for combinations of value selections in filters
You can combine parameters in different ways in one filter. There are a total of 3 possibilities for combining values in the filters:
- crossing (AND) is a search for publications corresponding to all selected filter values at the same time;
- combining (OR) is to search for publications matching at least one of the selected filter values;
- negation (NOT) is a search for publications that do not match the selected filter value.
These ways of combining the filter parameters are selected separately for each parameter and can also be combined. For example, you can select publications containing tag1 or tag2 and not containing tag3.
Please note:
If you want publications that contain a tag1 or tag2 in the Tags filter, you need to select a value combination type OR for each of the selected values.
You can select one type of filter value combination for all displayed filter values at once.
Please note:
When you select a value combination type for a mass value, this combination type applies to all displayed values, i.e. not only to the values you have previously selected and not to those values that are not currently displayed in the filter's filter bar).
Some filters do not present all 3 combinations of filter values, as not all combinations are possible. For example, you cannot select publications that come from more than one source (AND, crossing) at the same time, because each publication originates from only one source. To select publications from more than one source, you must use the OR (pooling) type. In this way you will get publications belonging to source1 OR source2 OR source3.
If you are not sure what type of combination of filter values to select, just try to select the combination types for each value in sequence and check if the filter description at the bottom of the panel matches your need.
Union of parameters in filters
If you need to view publications that match one of several filter values, you can use the intersection (OR) function.
For example, you would like to search for publications on different source categories at the same time. Select the desired filter options and note the tick marks to the left of the titles of the values you have selected. A display type indicator appears next to each topic name.
At the bottom of the filter bar you will see a description of the values you have selected.Click the OK button to apply the filter. You will get a list of publications in the ribbon that corresponds to your pre-selected filters.
Intersection of parameters in the filters
To see the publications that fall into more than one filter parameter at the same time, select the filter values you want and select the type of combination of the selected values. To do this, click on the menu to the left of the selected filter parameter and select Intersection (AND).
For example, if you would like to find texts where Starlink and internet are mentioned as top words, select these values in the filter by TOP words, select the display type Cross section for each value, and click OK at the bottom of the filter.
If you need to search for all source topics, click on the icon above the list of found filter values.
Negation parameters in the filters
To do so, you need to click on the source country filter title and then go to the source country selection menu. You can select one or more countries by clicking on its title, and selecting the filtering options: source publications by selected country or all publications except publications with the selected country. For example, select the USA, India, and Singapore and exclude Australia from the monitoring.
This way we will get publications filtered by sources from Singapore, India , and the USA, and at the same time we will not see publications with Australian sources.
If you want to search for all source topics, click on the icon above the list of found filter values.
