The object of topic monitoring can be an organization, its competitors, a brand, a person, an information campaign, an event (for example, the campaign "Say No to putin").
There might be many keywords in the topic, for convenience they can be connected logically, but it is not obligatory (in one topic it is possible to combine monitoring of mentions of the company and its competitors, but it can be inconvenient for further information analysis). The search query used in the topic has a character limit of 3072 (including spaces and special characters).
If you need to track selected keywords in the topic, use tags for this. For example, if you need to track mentions of different company speakers in your company, you don't need to create separate topics for each speaker, just set up auto tags by your speakers in the topic. You can add/remove tags by yourself, if you need to set up automatic tagging, contact your support manager or send a message to the system chat.
How many publications can be in one topic?
There is no limit to the number of publications in topic. A limit is imposed only on the depth of the archive (in months or years) available for viewing in the account (the same for all topics in it). This restriction depends on the your tariff plan.
The system also does not allow you to create a new topic that collects more than 50 thousand publications in a month.
Can the user add topics by himself?
Yes, user can create or modify topics by yourself
(Creating a topic in Semantrum). This option is available to users with a role that allows them to create and edit topics in the account
(Roles and user rights). Also your colleagues with corresponding rights can edit the created topic. However, topics created for users by the Semantrum system managers may not be available for editing by users. If you have such a problem, contact your support manager or send a message to the system chat.
If I am interested in publications on my topic, but only from certain sources, can I customize the theme that way?
Yes! You can customize a topic by specific types of media, such as Facebook, Twitter, web sources, etc. (
Creating a topic in Semantrum). If you are only interested in monitoring specific sources, such as individual social media pages or individual sites (e.g. government websites or those of your competitors), this setup can be created for you by your support manager, please send a message to the system chat or directly to your manager for that.
You can also use filters by source (or other filters) to filter the information and save the query (
Saved queries). Then, you can use the saved query by applying it to the appropriate period of publications, so that only publications from the sources specified in the saved query are displayed in the news feed. You can also subscribe to receive alerts
(notifications) of new publications for saved query (Newsletters (allerts) in Semantrum: overview of functions).
Is it possible to change topics?
You can, but not more than one topic per week, or more topics, if changes are not frequent, as long as you contact the support manager. If you have appropriate rights (
Read more about user roles and rights), you can independently edit topics created by yourself or your colleagues (
read more about topic editing). If you do not have rights or do not see the theme editing menu, contact the support manager or send a message to the system chat. The system does not limit the number of edits, but there are limits on the number of additions to the history of posts (retrospective). The system informs you about the number of days you can upload your topic history, as well as the number of available uploads. These limits apply to the entire account and are regulated by the tariff plan. Retrospective period is determined by your tariff plan and might be from 30 to 356 days (
Filling topics with publications from previous periods).
Can I enter a retrospective for a topic by myself?
Yess, in the topic edit window, you can fill in the history of previous posts. If you have appropriate rights, you can independently edit topics created by you or your colleagues (
More about Editing Topics). If you do not have rights or do not see the theme editing menu, contact the support manager or send a message to the system chat.

Is it possible to create a topic only by negative publications?
No, it is not possible to create topic only by negative posts, because the tone of voice of the posts determined according to the key words in the topic. It is happening at the moment when the post is added to the topic (
Tone of voice determination). If you need to view only negative articles, you can use a tone of voice filter. You can also save your tone of voicefilters (learn more about saved queries, and subscribe to
newsletters (notifications) about the appearance of negative messages in topic (Newsletters (allerts) in Semantrum: overview of functions).
I receive a lot of posts in the topic, how can I reduce their number in order to receive only the main information?
You can clarify the list of keywords in the topic, by yourself or ask you support manager.
If you can not specify keywords, and there are still too much information, you can use several ways of grouping / filtration of publications. In order to group the publications based on the similarity of the texts, use the grouping of publications functional.
You can also turn only the main sources on the filters panel - by the source size filter (
more details about the size (value) of the source). Your support manager can adjust the topic so that the publications of medium and small sources do not appear in the topic at all.
If it is important for you to see all sources, but you want to receive only those publications that are most relevant to your monitoring object, use the automatically defined role of publications (
Determining the role of publications) and select only publications with main role (those in which the object of monitoring plays a major role).
